First off, I wanna give a big thank you to everyone who participated in the 2010 Hiphop Census Mixtape project. It really inspired me to see the passion and love that alot of you have for the music. I am humbled and honored that so many of you took the time and effort to submit a track.
Thank you to Eric, my PCG colleague for handling the grueling task of sorting out the votes and providing us with the most accurate results. It was definitely not easy. We took into account a few factors such as repeated IP numbers, if people actually left a reason as to why they selected that song, etc.
Without further ado, I present to you the selected tracks for the 2010 Hiphop Census Mixtape…
That’s the best word to describe how I feel regarding the feedback and response I’ve been getting for the mixtape. Those of you who have been keeping up with me know, the Lord has been doing major work in my life in the last 12-16 months. This mixtape is a audio presentation of that experience and the journey thus far. I picked some beats that I thought were dope. I shared with you what the Lord has been doing in my life in rhyme form. I uploaded it online and put the link on my website. Any other sharing and exposure of the mixtape was soley on the merit of the music itself. That’s what inspires me the most. Thank you.
I know the original zip file link I posted in the previous blog has been down. The mixtape can also be downloaded now at the following two sites. Thank you all for your support. Much love and blessings.

If you haven’t done so yet, check it out. The music just may speak to you.
All glory to our Heavenly Father.

Once upon a time, I had a tiny role in a film called 2 Fast 2 Furious. Coincidentally, that film was released in theaters on June 4th,2003, which happens to be my birthday. Fast forward to 2010. With June 4th being just around the corner, I am once again thrilled to have a film that I participated in hit theaters on the day I was born. This time, it’s an even more unique experience being that this is my first principle role in a Hong Kong film.
“Gallants” = Kung Fu + Comedy + Drama.
In a nutshell, I play a prick who thinks he’s a martial arts expert because he’s studied for a few years and won a few non-meaningful tournaments. I know, nothing like me at all. LOL.
The film is starting to make it’s rounds in the film festival circuit and will be released in Hong Kong theaters on June 4th.
For your viewing pleasure, here is the trailer for “Gallants”.

Someone asked me, “What if one person votes multiple times?”
Myself and others will try to keep an eye out for fishy voting activities to our best capability. If someone does manage to rig the votes, all I can say is.. why?
VOTING STARTS NOW.
A few days ago, this article was released. Needless to say, for those who follow this type of stuff it caused quite a stir. The topic of race and ethnicity can be a 50/50 when relating to the Hiphop discussion forum (particularly Asians). Should it be even a factor worthy of being addressed? Or is Hiphop strictly about your skills and one’s ethnic background isn’t even a relevant point? Depending on who you ask, you’d probably get various answers.
So with that said..Analyzing Hiphop from an Asian perspective while raising the question, who would be in a G.O.A.T. list?… oh boy. Brace yourself. Of course, with any situation where a list is being composed and rankings are taken into consideration, it is inevitable that conflicts of opinions and thoughts are bound to occur.
With that said.. I encourage everyone to take this “list” for whatever you take it for.
I gota agree with the author of said composition, “Ten years ago, a list of the ten Greatest Asian American MCs of All Time wouldn’t have been possible”. True indeed. I think what is most admirable about this particular article is how concise and well written it was. Props to you young sir.
I mean, he opened my analysis with “Jin is the single most well-known, written-about, revered, disrespected, loved and hated Asian American rapper ever.”
I said this on my twitter and I’ll say it again. I don’t think my career has ever been so well summed up in one single sentence.
Inspired by his article. I present to you.
The A List…

Found this lovely stock photo on the goog.
Cornell University. Located in lovely Ithaca. Last night I was invited by the Intellectual Diversity Association aka IDA to be a guest speaker as well as performer at their event.
For the first half of the festivities I did a lecture. Well, they called it a lecture.. I just babbled for approximately 45 minutes about my personal background, experience in the music industry as an Asian American, etc. Of course, we did the traditional Q&A session towards the end. I love those.
Once the academic portion of the event was complete, the real fun began. They held an impromptu freestyle battle where a few of the students and local mcs jumped on stage. Hilarious stuff. I even got in on the action. All in good fun. After the battles, I performed until the lights came on and school staff hit us with the “You ain’t gots to go gome, but you gots to get up out of here.”
Two words: good times.
The best part was meeting all the cool peeps at CU. I hope everyone that came out enjoyed the evening as much as I did.
Pictures to come soon..
So here’s my rundown for the next few days..
Monday night I’ll be attending this:
Should be interesting.
Then Tuesday morning, back to Hong Kong I go.
Quite possibly one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen on the internet.
